The guiding principles of the Japanese major are people-oriented, student autonomy, solid foundation and expansion. The core courses are Basic Japanese, Advanced Japanese, Japanese Reading and Japanese Grammar and the expansional courses are Interpretation, Translation, Introduction to Japanese Culture and Business Japanese. Practical courses include Japanese Listening, Oral Japanese and Japanese Writing. These courses can help students build a solid foundation in Japanese listening, speaking, reading, writing and translation, familiarize them with foreign trade, and prepare them for business, press and academic work.
The students are highly motivated in class and they actively participate in various extracurricular activities. They have achieved great success in competitions of Japanese translation and speaking.
The Department is seeking international cooperation and is working towards joint cultivation programs with Josai University, Nagasaki University of Foreign Studies and Hokkaido Bunkyo University.
