On the afternoon of November 9, the school welcomed an important visit from President Marluce Aparecida Souza e Silva of the Federal University of Mato Grosso (UFMT), Brazil, Sergio Roberto de Paulo, Director of the International Exchange Office of UFMT, and Caroline Pereira de Oliveira, Director of the Chinese Language + Agricultural Science and Technology Development Center.

CPC School Committee Secretary Xie Shaofeng, Executive Dean Deng Fei, Vice Deans Li Feiwu and Liu Aodong, Director of the English Department Yang Min, and Director of the Public Foreign Language Department Wu Zhangxin, etc received President Marluce Aparecida Souza e Silva and her delegation in Meeting Room 607. After a brief introduction of the attendees on both sides, Dean Deng Fei first delivered a warm welcome speech. Dean Deng expressed warm welcome to the Brazilian guests and highly praised the remarkable achievements of UFMT in agriculture, environmental engineering, and education. She mentioned that since the joint establishment of the Chinese Language + Agricultural Science and Technology Development Center between the two universities in 2022, significant cooperation results have been achieved, and she looked forward to this visit promoting cooperation and exchanges between the school and UFMT.

Subsequently, President Marluce Aparecida Souza e Silva of UFMT and Sergio Roberto de Paulo, Director of the International Exchange Office, also delivered speeches respectively. They expressed their gratitude for the warm reception and briefly introduced the achievements and development vision of UFMT. They expressed their strong expectation for in-depth cooperation with the school in the field of liberal arts to jointly promote academic progress and talent cultivation at both universities.

After watching the promotional video of South China Agricultural University, the two sides conducted in-depth discussions on the benefits, feasibility, and challenges of launching Portuguese and Spanish teaching programs. Both sides agreed that based on the language programs already launched last year, they should further improve and implement Portuguese and Spanish programs to jointly promote the prosperity and development of the Chinese Language + Agricultural Science and Technology Development Center and the China-Latin America Alliance.

At the end of the visit, a gift-giving ceremony was held and a group photo was taken. This visit not only deepened the friendship between SFS and UFMT but also provided broad space and infinite possibilities for future cooperation and exchanges between the two sides. SFS and the Federal University of Mato Grosso, Brazil, will work together to create a brighter future.
