On the afternoon of December 27, 2021, Professor Wang Zhong, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, City University of Macau, conducted online exchanges with teachers and students of SFS.
Dean Huang Guowen expressed his welcome and gratitude to Professor Wang Zhong for his exchanges with the school. Then, Professor Wang Zhong delivered an academic lecture titled Intangible Cultural Heritage Aesthetics and Rural Tourism Development focusing on the themes of Inheritance and Dissemination of Chinese Rural Culture and Rural Revitalization. The lecture was hosted by Deputy Dean Chen Yang, and attended by some teachers, doctoral students, MTI master's students, and undergraduates from the school.
During the lecture, Professor Wang Zhong pointed out that Chinese rural culture is an essential part of China's traditional culture, and that it is of great significance to do a good job in the inheritance and dissemination of rural culture for telling China's stories, spreading China's voice, and promoting the rural revitalization strategy. Then, Professor Wang Zhong proposed to promote rural revitalization through the development of rural culture. He believes that rural tourism can not only drive the recovery of the rural economy but also promote the inheritance, protection, development, and evolution of intangible cultural heritage. Subsequently, Professor Wang Zhong interpreted the development of aesthetics, the concept of life aesthetics, and the concept of intangible cultural heritage aesthetics, and discussed the aesthetics of intangible cultural heritage in the Internet. Finally, he proposed the concepts and strategies for the development of intangible cultural heritage aesthetics and rural tourism. In the Q&A session, teachers and students of our school actively raised questions, and Professor Wang Zhong answered them in detail.
Professor Wang Zhong has jointly applied and been approved for two Ten Thousand Talents Program projects with the school by the Ministry of Education in 2019 and 2020. This time, the school invited Professor Wang Zhong to conduct online exchanges to further explore the paths of international cooperation projects with the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, City University of Macau, and other departments of the university, including scientific research, professional construction, teacher exchanges, student exchanges, etc. After the lecture, Professor Wang Zhong discussed cooperation matters with Dean Huang Guowen and other school leaders.
Professor Wang Zhong has long been engaged in the research of Chinese philosophy and culture and sociology of science. In the past ten years, he has focused on the research of cultural industries and cultural heritage. He has published nine books independently and in cooperation, including Research on Chinese Traditional Creative Thoughts, and more than 50 academic papers. He has presided over more than ten projects, including the Macao Foundation project. He is currently the President of the Macao Cultural and Creative Industries Association, Vice Chairman of the Macao Federation of Trade Unions Think Tank, Vice President of the Macao Self-reliance Cultural and Creative Think Tank, and Advisor to the Guangdong Youth Research Think Tank. He also serves as an international reviewer for “International Journal of Cultural Policy and Frontiers in Psychology”, enjoying a high influence in academic circles both at home and abroad.
