On October 24, Prof. Sune Vork Steffensen gave a lecture in Room 402of School of Foreign Studies. The lecture was titled “What is ecolinguistics”,and attracted a large number of teachers and students from the school.

   Inhis lecture, Prof. Steffensen talked about the roots of ecolinguistics and itsdevelopment over the past decades with the efforts and contributions byscholars like Haugen, Halliday, Fill, Stibbe etc. He also introduced andcommented on the status quo of research on ecolinguistics in recent years inEurope, Brazil, U.S. as well as China. He also pointed out the futuredevelopment of ecolinguistics.

  Prof. Steffensen’s insightful lecture was well received by the audience.

  Prof. Sune Vork Steffensen is a professor of Interpersonal Communicationand Cognition at the University of Southern Denmark and a guest professor ofSouth China Agricultural University.
