Lunch with the Dean: Internationalization and Students' Growth

   The 5th "Lunch with the Dean" washeld on April 13 with the theme of "Internationalization and Students'Growth". Deputy Dean Prof. Chen Yang was invited as a guest and previousstudents who had taken part in Japanese and South Korean summer programs sharedtheir experience.


  Prof. Chen Yang started with a story, which raised the question of"how to embrace and adjust to the new era and develop into aninternationalized talent". She then put forward the idea of "rooted inmotherland and possessing a global vision". She pointed out that creativeinternationalized talents must first bear affection for the country and thenpossess a global vision and pioneering spirit, and that the theme of the BoaoForum for Asia 2018, i.e. "An Open and Innovative Asia", which wasconsistent with the Belt and Road Initiative, also suggested that our countryas well as the new era called for talents with cross-cultural horizons. Prof.Chen explained that the school gave priority to internationalization and hasestablished cooperative relations with world famous universities abroad, whichhas provided a sound platform for our students. She encouraged the studentspresent to value their schooldays and seize opportunities for overseas study.

  Two students who had joined in Japanese and South Korean summer programsshared their experience in Japan and South Korea, which greatly inspired thestudents present and aroused their passion about going abroad.


  "Lunch with the Dean" is a bridge for smooth communicationbetween teachers and students and has proved to be well received by students inSFS.
