On October25, Prof. He Ziran from Guangdong University of Foreign Studies visited SFS anddelivered a speech on “The Formation of Linguistic Memes and Theirtransmissional Characteristics---On Chinese Memes and Pragmatics in SocialEcological Environment”. Prof. Li Zhanxi chaired the lecture. Dean of SFS Prof.Huang Guowen were also present.

In thelecture, Prof. He analyzed the formation of Chinese memes and theirtransmission using theories of pragmatics in social ecological environment.Prof. He illustrated his points with concrete and vivid examples and he alsoelaborated on the formation and transmission of Chinese cyber catchwords.

Prof. LiZhanxi commented on the lecture and called for the teachers and studentspresent to see Prof. He as an example of continuous pursuit of innovation. DeanHuang Guowen summarized the lecture and expressed hope that all the teachers inSFS could stand at academic frontier and make achievements.
