Prof. Huang Guowen Delivers Keynote Speech in the 2nd International Symposium on Ecolinguistics

On August 26, Professor Huang Guowen delivereda keynote speech in the 2nd International Symposium on Ecolinguisticsand the 19th Symposium on Functional Linguistics and DiscourseAnalysis.


The Symposium was organized by NationalResearch Center for Foreign Language Education, BFSU Advanced Academy ofLanguage Sciences, Foreign LanguageTeaching and Research and Foreign Language Teaching and Research Press.

Professor Huang Guowen’s speech wasentitled “Harmonious discourse analysis in the Chinese context: From criticalecolinguistics to harmonious ecolinguistics”, in which he encouraged young scholarsto conduct research on ecolinguistics within the Chinese social and cultural background.

Other keynote speakers to the Symposiumincluded Professor Arran Stibbe, Professor Sune Vork Steffensen, Professor AndrewGoatly, Professor Wang Wenbin, Professor Stephen Cowley, Professor JonathanWebster and Professor He Wei.

TheSymposium lasted for two days, August 26 and August 27, and attracted more than200 teachers and students from all over the world, many of whom also presentedpapers on various topics that ranged from discourse analysis, ecolinguisticstudy to language teaching.
