The Value and Significance of Chinese Culture in the Construction of a Community with a Shared Future for Mankind by Prof. Yang Feng from Shanghai Jiao Tong University

     On November 29, Prof. Yang Feng from Shanghai Jiao Tong University visited SFS and delivered a speech titled “The Value and Significance of Chinese Culture in the Construction of ”. Dean of SFS, Prof. Huang Guowen, chaired the lecture. Secretary Wu Shantian and teachers and students of SFS attended.

Prof. Yang started with the influence of westernization, modernization and globalization on the inheritance and transmission of Chinese culture, and analyzed the contributions of Chinese culture to the world that suffers the loss of order in the post-imperialist period. Prof. Yang introduced the decay of modernization and the issues brought by globalization and pointed out that the nature of modernization is the justification of selfness and the pursuit of personal interest. He also talked out the menace caused by the irrational development of technology. He then explored the sense of responsibility, sense of duty, collectivism and harmony entailed in Chinese culture, which can be instrumental in restoring world order.


The lecture was well-received by the audience.
