The Third Symposium on Ecolinguistics was held on October26-28 in Guangzhou Normal University with the theme of “Ecological CivilizationConstruction and Ecolinguistic Research”.
Dean Huang Guowen gave a speech in theopening ceremony as well as a keynote speech titled “Halliday’s SystemicEcolinguistics as an Appliable Linguistics” in the plenary session onOctober 27.

The Third Symposium on Ecolinguisticswas sponsored by China Association of Ecolinguistics, NationalResearch Center of Foreign Language Education of BFSU and National ResearchCenter for State Language Capacity, and organized by the School of ForeignStudies of Guangzhou Normal University.
Besides Prof. Huang Guowen, the invitedkeynote speakers also included Prof. Sune Vork Steffensen (University ofSouthern Denmark), a renowned scholar of international Ecolinguistics and chiefeditor of Language Sciences (Elsevier), Prof. Andrew Goatly (LinnanUniversity), Prof. Stephen Cowley (University of Southern Denmark), Prof.Wang Wenbin (Beijing Foreign Studies University), Prof. He Wei (BeijingForeign Studies University) and many others.

The symposium was co-organized by severalacademic journals including Functional Linguistics (Springer), LanguageSciences (Elsevier) and Journal of World Languages (Routledge).
Around200 teachers and students from home and abroad attended the symposium.
