外国语学院英语专业1989年开始招收专科生，1998年面向全国招收本科生。2007年英语专业开始设有英语语言文学方向、英语(经贸方向)、英语(翻译方向)，2014年起招收英语专业、商务英语专业和日语专业本科生，并于2015年起招收翻译硕士研究生（MTI）。
