On December 14 to 16, the First High-end Forum of Foreign Linguistics and Applied Linguistics was held in the Department of Foreign Languages, School of Liberal Arts, Shantou University, and Dean Huang Guowen of SFS was engaged as Chair Professor of Shantou University.

   Dean Huang Guowen also gave a keynote speech titled The Research Paradigms of Ecolinguistics, in which he introduced a new field of study: ecological linguistics (ecolinguistics), which studies the co-relation between language and ecology and the harmonious coexistence between man and nature.

   The forum invited 18 foreign linguistics and applied linguistics experts and scholars, and nearly 50 teachers and students attended. Views on the new progress in applied linguistics, translation study, military linguistics, cognitive linguistics, conversational analysis, multimodal theory, English education modes, contrastive phonetic teaching, English writing teaching, semantics, etc were shared and discussed.
