On October 24, Prof. Sune Vork Steffensen gave a lecture in Room 402 of School of Foreign Studies. The lecture was titled “What is ecolinguistics”, and attracted a large number of teachers and students from the school.

   In his lecture, Prof. Steffensen talked about the roots of ecolinguistics and its development over the past decades with the efforts and contributions by scholars like Haugen, Halliday, Fill, Stibbe etc. He also introduced and commented on the status quo of research on ecolinguistics in recent years in Europe, Brazil, U.S. as well as China. He also pointed out the future development of ecolinguistics.

   Prof. Steffensen’s insightful lecture was well received by the audience.

  Prof. Sune Vork Steffensen is a professor of Interpersonal Communication and Cognition at the University of Southern Denmark and a guest professor of South China Agricultural University.
