In 2016, with the approval of the Academic Degree Office of the State Council, the School of Foreign Studies established the second-level discipline "The Ecology of Language" doctoral program. As of 2019, there are two doctoral supervisors, which are Professor Huang Guowen and Professor Xiao Haozhang, and 4 doctoral students have been enrolled.
The school attaches great importance to the integration of agriculture, ecology and other school-based advantages to the cultivation of doctoral students, and has formed distinctive disciplinary characteristics. Language and ecology are the key points and highlights of the doctoral program. Doctoral students are cultivated in the three directions of Language Ecology, Ecological Discourse and Ecological Translation, and are guided to explore the impact of language on the environment and society, and to serve the strategic needs of China's construction of ecological civilization in the new era.
The main courses offered include Development in Modern Ecology, Theories of Ecolinguistics, Ecological Discourse and Context, Ecological Translation and Technology, etc..
