From May 27th to June 2nd, SFS successfully held the South China Agricultural University - City University of Macao Agricultural Culture Learning and Experience Project. The project was sponsored by the Ministry of Education and more than 20 teachers and students from SCAU and MCU participated.
At the welcome ceremony on May 27th, CPC Branch Secretary Chen Wenyi and Dean Huang Guowen expressed their warm welcome to the visiting teachers and students. Dr. Hu Bo, a teacher from the City University of Macau, expressed his gratitude for the hospitality of SFS and praised the achievements of SFS in the fields of ecolinguistics and ecological civilization construction in recent years.
During the one-week period, SFS arranged activities like campus tour, on-campus farming training, an agricultural culture lecture, experiencing traditional farming culture, visiting modern agricultural technology demonstration bases etc. The visits to the campus, the university history museum, and the farm training activities of the tea school, plant factory and ecological fishery center familiarized the visiting teachers and students with the beautiful campus scenery, century-old history and cutting-edge agricultural technology achieved in SCAU.
Dean Huang Guowen gave a lecture on Agricultural Culture, Rural Culture Revitalization and Ecolinguistics, and elaborated on the concept of ecolinguistics and its contributions to rural revitalization and ecological civilization.
The visits to Shawan Ancient Town and Guangdong Modern Agricultural Technology and Equipment Demonstration Base have enabled the visiting teachers and students to appreciate the profound heritage of traditional Chinese farming culture and the promotion of modern science and technology to the agricultural industry.
The visiting teachers and students all spoke highly of this agricultural culture learning and experience project, saying that the farming culture experience was rich and colorful, and that they had enhanced the awareness of knowing agriculture, understanding agriculture and loving agriculture. They also have felt the broad prospects of the Greater Bay Area of Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao, the growing power of the motherland and the revival of the Chinese nation.
The Hong Kong, Macao and Mainland University Teacher-Student Exchange Program (referred to as the Ten-thousand Plan) was launched by the Ministry of Education in 2013, aiming at inviting university teachers and students from Hong Kong and Macao to visit Mainland for academic and cultural exchanges. This is the first time that SFS has undertaken such a project, and it is also an important achievement in the internationalization of the SFS.
