On December 22-23, the 2018 annual conference of the Foreign Language Teaching and Research Association of  Agricultural and Forestry Universities was held at the Nanchang Tai Nike International Hotel. The conference was hosted by the Foreign Language Teaching Research Association of the Agricultural and Forestry Universities and the China Agricultural Press, and organized by the School of Foreign Languages of Jiangxi Agricultural University. Experts and teachers from more than 20 foreign language schools of agricultural and forestry universities across the country attended the conference.

   Chair Professor of Chang Jiang Scholars Program and Dean of SFS  Huang Guowen, Vice President of Jiangxi Agricultural University Professor He Haohua , Deputy Editor-in-Chief of China Agricultural Press Li Yaohui, and President of the Foreign Language Teaching and Research Association of the National Agricultural and Forestry Universities Zhang Caihua and the Secretary General of the association Long Yongzhi attended the opening ceremony.

   At the opening ceremony, Professor Huang Guowen gave a keynote speech titled "Halliday's Influence on Gui Shichun - Reflections on Agricultural English", in which he reviewed the academic experiences of two famous scholars, Halliday and Gui Shichun, and suggested that foreign language teachers in agricultural and forestry universities should consider the characteristics of English majors in agricultural and forestry universities, adapt to the time and integrate regional economic development into English education. These insightful views were recognized by the large number of experts, scholars and teachers present.

   On the afternoon of December 22nd, the Second Annual Speech Contest for Students in Agricultural and Forestry Universities was held. 22 students from the national agricultural and forestry universities competed. Wu Qianqian of SFS won the award of Honorable Mention.

   On the morning of December 23, the deans or representatives of the Foreign Languages Schools of Jiangxi Agricultural University, South China Agricultural University, China Agricultural University, Northeast Agricultural University, Nanjing Agricultural University, Zhongkai Agricultural Engineering College and other universities delivered speeches.

   The conference strengthened the exchanges and cooperation between agricultural and forestry universities.
