Prof. Huang Guowen Delivers Keynote Speech in the 2nd International Symposium on Ecolinguistics

     On August 26, Professor Huang Guowen delivered a keynote speech in the 2nd International Symposium on Ecolinguistics and the 19th Symposium on Functional Linguistics and Discourse Analysis.


     The Symposium was organized by National Research Center for Foreign Language Education, BFSU Advanced Academy of Language Sciences, Foreign Language Teaching and Research and Foreign Language Teaching and Research Press.

     Professor Huang Guowen’s speech was entitled “Harmonious discourse analysis in the Chinese context: From critical ecolinguistics to harmonious ecolinguistics”, in which he encouraged young scholars to conduct research on ecolinguistics within the Chinese social and cultural background.

     Other keynote speakers to the Symposium included Professor Arran Stibbe, Professor Sune Vork Steffensen, Professor Andrew Goatly, Professor Wang Wenbin, Professor Stephen Cowley, Professor Jonathan Webster and Professor He Wei.

     The Symposium lasted for two days, August 26 and August 27, and attracted more than 200 teachers and students from all over the world, many of whom also presented papers on various topics that ranged from discourse analysis, ecolinguistic study to language teaching.
